So, here it is. The kitchen/ back splash in completion. This did not take at all long to do and I am happy with the results. It is not by any means formal or fancy but it suits us and I like it!
The back splash behind the counters is chalk board paint (what else?) and behind the stove are the wall tiles you can buy from Home Depot. They used to carry these at my Lowes but now seem to be special order only. Scroll to the bottom of post for before picture.

I like the versatility of the chalk board paint. I can write what ever I feel like! I may need to work on my penmenship though.
Added a bare wintery wreath to the kitchen window and a scrolly decal (you can kind of see) above the sink- Hobby Lobby.
Our "breakfast nook" with my head board chalk board and tack board project posted here.

I was inspired by Melissa's Procrastinator Party at the Inspired Rooom to finally get this "to-do" off my list! Go check out results of other DIYers while you're at it!
I am aslo posting this for Kimbas DIY day at A Soft Place to Land. Go check it out and thanks for looking!
Jen, this looks FABULOUS!! I have a million ideas, but never seem able to commit to just one. You should be very proud :)
ReplyDeleteLove the tiles behind the stove--reminds me of the pressed tin ceiling tiles some old houses used to have. I have a terribly ugly back splash in my kitchen--might need to start thinking about a re0do!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen anyone use chalk board paint for a blacksplash, what a great idea! Janell
ReplyDeleteI love the chalkboard paint as the back splash. What a clever idea. The whole look is really cozy and clean. Job well done!

ReplyDeleteok. i'm peeved. i also did Melissa's Procrastinator's Party and did my backsplash, which i worked DAYS on, and truth be told I LIKE YOURS BETTER - this is me whining...it's so darn cute! That's a great idea, i would've never though to do chalkboard. Pure gold.
ReplyDeleteI just painted my backsplash with chalkboard paint too. The hardest part was convincing my husband that it wouldn't darken the room too much.
ReplyDeleteCool idea. I have seen people use the chalkboard thing in the kitchen on doors etc but never as a back splash--oh la la--I surely would have fun writing things on that!!!!! WHAT FUN!!! I couldn't do it in my house because my house needs all the light it can get!
ReplyDeleteA totally fabulous idea. Extraordinary simplicity.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, what a neat idea to use the chalkboard paint. I love the tin backsplash too, gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLove it!! Made such a difference. Enjoy your backsplash
ReplyDeleteBoy, I'm going right out and get me some chalkboard paint. I'll start off small with a frame but I see you have expanded big-time!! Love the tin back splash. I'm planing on having a white tin ceiling put in my kitchen re-do if it ever gets started.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks absolutely wonderful...great job!
